Rosie Perez

 Rosie Perez was born Rosa Maria Perez June 6, 1964. She is an American actress. Her first big break came with Tina's character in Do the Right Thing (1989), then followed by White Men Can't Hop (1992). Perez's performance in Fearless (1993) was a huge success and earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her most prominent film roles include It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado (2000), Pineapple Express (2008) as well as Birds of Prey (2020).





 Perez has received three Primetime Emmy Award nominations (in 1990-1994) as well as an Emmy Award nomination for her role as The Flight Attendant (2020-2024). She has appeared featured in Broadway productions like The Ritz, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune. She also co-hosted on the ABC talk show The View during the series' 18th season.





 Childhood and early life



 Perez was born on the 6th of September 1964, in the Bushwick neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York City She was the daughter of Lydia Perez and Ismael Serrano an ocean-going merchant mariner. [3][4][5] Perez's mother Lydia Fontanez y Reyes was born in Humacao (Puerto Rico) on October 13, 1939. Her father was born in Aguadilla in Puerto Rico. Arturo Perez, her mother's husband, was twenty years older than Rosie. After an affair with the father of Serrano, Perez's mother had already had five children. Perez was born in the now-closed Greenpoint Hospital, Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn.





 Perez is among ten children brought up by her mother. Rosie and her siblings were raised in Bushwick and their mother was in prison for an indefinite period. The mother of her child was jailed when she had the birth of her second child. After being cared for by her aunt, she was put in foster care and group homes. She and her siblings were frequently divided. Then she was moved to a group foster home and lived in foster care within New York and Peekskill until age eight. From the age of twelve the girl was considered legal an ward in New York. Aunt and mother often visited her, and her father was unsuccessful in his attempts to obtain custody at one time.
